I also had the pleasure of meeting the current Miss Black Country Shelley Marie Sumner and having seen her incredible performance at the Miss England finals the previous year, I was very excited to meet her. She was truly lovely all day and it was clear how much of a role model she was and is to the Black Country - a true Beauty With A Purpose.
The night's event was absolutely amazing and I was so glad that I had the opportunity to be able to watch the show. Each contestant stormed the stage with grace and confidence and each did themselves proud! I knew it was going to be a hard choice from the moment the show started! First, Mr Black Country was called. As there was no reigning Mr Black Country, I was humbled to have the honour of crowning the new Mr Black Country James Machin on stage. He was a very deserving winner and did exceptionally! Next, Shelley crowned the new Miss Black Country Jade Secker - another deserving winner who had also raised a phenomenal amount for charity. As both of them shared the stage, the audience screamed with pride at their new ambassadors and it was evident how much it meant to them both! I am so excited to compete alongside James at Mr England and also cheer on Jade in the Miss England finals! A huge congratulations also to Matt Beddows for being runner up to Mr Black Country and to Raven Biggs whom was the Miss Black Country runner up and also to Faye Campbell whom placed second runner up! All of those competing did amazing and it was a true honour to be able to share this experience with all of them!
