friends and family who have shown remarkable support and patience with me over the past few weeks in the run up to the Miss Birmingham competition, I could not have achieved what I have alone.
This first week has been a whirlwind of excitement with the gravity of the opportunity I have been given settling upon me. I have the chance to represent the second city, to promote it, to achieve so much and perhaps most importantly to raise money to make a real difference first hand to such a wonderful place.
I hope to work closely with local companies, councils and organisations to really showcase the best of Birmingham and what we have to offer as well as the amazing things I believe we can achieve if we all
work together. It's a city of diversity with so much to offer and I know I have so much to give back to my city.
I'm already planning my first charity event which will go ahead on 7th June, and I am in talks with some of the big firms of Birmingham who I hope to work alongside.* The charity I'm fundraising for this
time will be Beauty with a Purpose in line with Miss England’s charity endeavours and I feel strongly that if I keep working hard we can raise some really significant sums of money for the disadvantaged children and humanitarian projects BWAP supports. Let's also use this event to really promote Birmingham and give us a strong entrance into the Miss England finals, despite having just a short timeframe to prepare.
Following Miss England, I do not plan to work solely for one charity but to support a number of different charities throughout the year that affect so many different people throughout Birmingham. With just six weeks until the Miss England finals I know I have a few good weeks of hard work ahead of me but having achieved what I have so far I know drive and determination can make dreams and aspirations a reality. I entered the pageant looking for fun, friends and confidence; all of which I have achieved plus so
much more, and I'm only just getting started. I have high hopes for this year and know my ambitions and aspirations are within my reach, especially with the support of the wonderful people of Birmingham.
