Where do I start?? I have had such an amazing time taking part in the Miss England finals for 2015. It has enabled me to take part in events I would never normally get chance to such as Photo-shoots with the Miss England photographers, The Cube and many more. Im not going to lie it has been hard work long hours and lots of effort as Beauty Pageants these days are not what people envisage then to be. If you have read my blog previously you will know there are many different rounds such as the sports round, eco outfit and the main point of the competition ‘Beauty with a Purpose’. All the girls have done amazingly well and altogether we have raised over £50,000 for the charity which helps disadvantaged children locally, nationally and worldwide.
Next was the sports round which we were all anticipating and geared up for. This was going to be a gruelling two hours with Xremeboot Camp on t he Ricoh car park! We had lots of people there supporting us and members of the public stopping to look. They split us into two groups with an Xtreme instructor in each. Our group had circuit training as the base activity with different weights and muscle work outs such as: Squats, lunges, bicep curls, press-ups, sit ups and when you reached the end of your line there was life size/weight body that we had to pick up and run the whole way around the set marks (roughly ½ a footy pitch!) and back to the start before anyone could change station. I was on my own and didn’t have a partner so I had to manage on my own! To decide the winner the challenge was a plank off, which I love and we do at TKD a lot however, I was one of the first out as my ‘dairy air’ was too high. I was a little miffed about as I do it regularly, but it’s the taking part that counts so suck it up and carry on! I thoroughly enjoyed the sports round, it was a great work out and made us all feel physically better about ourselves…if a little tired!
Once rehearsals had finished it was time to get ready! My roomie Krishna was lovely, we got on really well and had a great laugh. Krishna’s sponsor was Studio MG from London. Migena is a beautiful lady who has a heart of gold, I have never met someone so lovely as her she did me a huge favour and provided me with hair and & makeup for both days which was such a relief as we could then relax and not have to stress. For the Eco round she styled my hair in a slick back high pony tail with full volume show makeup to match my Casino Royal game dress. Going out on stage was a great feeling and a great experience to showcase my home made eco dress. All of the girls looked great with a wide range of outfits ranging from James bond himself to Casino inspired dresses to Miss Money penny. Migena and her makeup artist are so talented, I have made some great friends for life and cannot wait to go an visit the salon!!
Started with a filling breakfast at the hotel, to keep our strengths up as we had 7 hours of rehearsals ahead of us. These were in both pairs of shoes, for the ‘Little Black Dress’ and the main showcase Evening wear round. If im hones….my feet KILLED, but we ploughed through it learning both routines. We braked for a short lunch and then straight back to it!
Once we were all confident in knowing who was where at what time, it was ready to start preparing ourselves for the final performance. Once again I had my hair and makeup done by the fabulous Studio MG along with eating my sandwich supplied for the event by subway. I had a late delivery from my amazing partner Lee, which was my black dress as I had in all the rush of getting to the area forgotten it!
Thank you again to every friend, work colleague, and family member for helping and supporting me through this amazing experience. Through the great times and the stressful times, for mom keeping me going, to my work colleagues giving me ideas, to Rachel (West Midlands manager) for support, to my grandparents who are proud of me, to the girls that I have shared the experience with and to Lee the best man in the world I could hope for who is right by my side.
