A teenager who has packed more challenges into his 17 years than most of us will in our lifetime is hoping to be crowned Mr Birmingham this weekend. Joshua Williams has battled bullying, homelessness and mental illness in his short life.
But he says he has now turned a corner and got his life back on track - and is hoping the crowning glory will be winning the pageant. Joshua, from Castle Bromwich, will line up with 12 other handsome young men in the finals of Mr Birmingham 2015 at the Burlington Hotel on Sunday.
The contest will take place alongside the traditional Miss Birmingham, where 40 girls will vie for the crown. Joshua, who is combining studying for his exams with a modelling career, said that when he was at school he was overweight and bullies made his life a misery.
